Introducing “The Alternatives” – plus updates on lessons with Braden and more!

Hello there – it’s been a relaxing but busy summer! What have I been up to? Well…

I’m happy to formally introduce my new project, The Alternatives. The 90’s rock cover band I’ve been talking about forever has finally come to be! I’ve been rehearsing heavily with my old friend, drummer Arei Sekiguchi, and my new friend, bassist Rohzan Razman. These guys are killing it! Our power trio will be playing our first show at one of my favorite venues in Brooklyn, Two Boots on September 7th from 10pm – midnight. This will also be my birthday party (actual birthday September 10th!) so it would be extra special to see alot of you there! Two Boots is at 512 2nd st, off 7th ave, in Park Slope, Brooklyn. F or Q to 7th ave, or 2,3 to Grand Army Plaza. Check out our website at www.thealternativesband.com. There’s also a Facebook invite if you’re interested here.

With summer almost over, it’s time to think about learning to play an instrument! Whether you’ve studied with me in the past, or want to get started, now’s the time to sign up, as I’m expecting a busy schedule. And, I’ve got some new exciting options this year! Firstly, I’m now accepting beginning and intermediate students on Piano. I’ve been playing alot of piano this summer, and figured it’s time to branch out a bit. Also, if you don’t already know, along with the Guitar, I also offer lessons on Bass, Mandolin, Banjo, and Ukulele. So take your pick! Secondly, I’m going to have a Park Slope/Gowanus studio location starting in September! I’ll be renting a room at Savaria Studios on 3rd ave and 7th st and will be offering lessons at this location. Might make it a bit easier for some of you – the F,G, and R trains are nearby at 4th ave/9th st. Third, with the new location, I’ll be offering group classes and ensembles if I can get enough interest. Let me know! And If you don’t live around here, online lessons are a great option! Lastly, here’s some encouragement to spread the word! I’ll give you a free lesson if your friend/acquaintance buys a lessons package! Contact me now for current rates and availability at my home (Winsdor Terrace), my Park Slope/Gowanus studio, or for housecalls! For more detailed info, click here.

In other exciting news, my swing band, Double Down, is officially entering the studio in October to record our long awaited 3rd album! We’ve got some great new tunes, including one written by yours truly! You can come hear us live next month on September 18th, 10pm, at Spike Hill in Williamsburg and at Swing 46, 9:30pm – 1am, on September 28th!

Keep on rockin’!

-B
